Francophilippe – Celebrate

Francophilippe is an up and coming French artist on the Champagne Record label. As a precursor to his upcoming album drop he has released the single 'Celebrate'. This track is a solid electro funk track that I would expect out of country with a repertoire like France. If you like this track, be on the look-out for his album in January 2012.

Jonas Rathsman - Tobago

Sweden's Jonas Rathsman has recently released his two-track debut titled "Tobago". The title track Tobago is a funk filed island house jam. Not what I was expecting out of Sweden, but a pleasant surprise none-the-less.

Kid Cudi – Falling Star (R3K Remix)

Kid Cudi has been off my radar for a while now. I was in love with his jams back in 08-09, but then he seemed to be switching lanes to more down-tempo jams that I couldn't really get into. His recent colab with Dot Da Genius (WZRD) hasn't really done it for me either. Thankfully R3K has put together a nice little remix of Cudi's track 'Falling Star" that put me back in the Cudi mood. I hope that 2012 will bring more good things from the Cudder.

Skrillex - Ruffneck (video)

Ok so a few post ago I was hating on dubstep saying that I hadn't been digg'n what artists had been cranking out lately. Well, I think that I've been looking in the wrong places. As we all know, dubstep legend Skrillex can tear some shit up, but who know he had such holiday spirit? This video was released a few days before Christmas and entails a drug laden Santa Claus who is assaulted by a group of thugs. Needless to say, Santa whoops ass. Nice work Skrillex, you made me believe that dubstep wasn't worn out, a true Christmas miracle.

DJ Earworm – United State of Pop 2011

world go boom e1325013433970 [Mashup] DJ Earworm United State of Pop 2011

DJ Earworm is back again with his annual end of the year mash-up. I can't say that the songs he's chosen are my favorites, but damn, this dude can mash-it-up fresh. Earworm brings together some of the biggest artists in pop from 2011 and created a track that can only be defined as superb. This guy has some serious production skills and makes me think that I shouldn't write-off mash-ups/pop music as much as I do. I can definitely say that I do my best to stay away from the pop scene, but when something like this comes my way its hard for my head to not bop and feet not to tap. This track just has something about it that makes me feel good. It will make a nice addition to the epilogue of 2011. So as 2011 slowly comes to a close, enjoy a little audio-visual montage of a seriously great year for music.

Sunday Girl – Where Is My Mind (Pixies cover)

1.1271871643 Must Listen: Sunday Girl Where Is My Mind (Pixies cover)

Here is a track for all of you who are suffering from a little X-mas hangover. I know it was a welcomed listen to my ears this morning. I am in Tabor at the moment. A sleepy little city a little over an hour outside of Prague to celebrate Christmas. I thought I would be having a nice relaxing time eating good food, relaxing and sitting by the fireplace, but my calculations were a little off. I mean, I did all the aforementioned, but I didn't quite factor in a mega party last night. Lets just say that people definitely like to party on Dec 25 in Tabor and I was obliged to partake. Upon waking up this morning and getting ready to meet some of my girlfriends family members, I found myself wondering this very thing "where is my mind"? Luckily Sunday Girl had the answer. SG created a great cover to one of the Pixies most renowned tracks. Her melodic voice really changes the pace from the original track in a way reminiscent to a lullaby. It definitely helped tone down my hangover to a more tolerable level. So if any of you out there are feeling a lil post Christmas head trama, sit back and pop on a little Sunday Girl and you'll be feeling better in no time.

Sunday Girl – Where Is My Mind (Pixies cover)

Dabin – We Are The Night

Here a little track that Jesus would drop at his b-day party, where of course, he's the DJ. Lately I have been getting put off by dubstep. It's getting harder and harder to find anyone doing something truly original with the genre. However, This jam has that little something something that I feel like I have been missing. I hope you feel the same. Big ups to the J-man and Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all.

Dabin – We Are The Night

Perseus - Russian Girlfriends

I was recently put onto Perseus a few months ago and I was instantly digging em. I saw this little number posted as a Christmas treat in my inbox and I thought I needed to share it with you guys. My personal fav off this sampler is Russian Girlfriends. It's got a laid back groove and a nice little sample from my boys PM Dawn to keep it fresh. So sit back and enjoy a little electronic mix from Perseus.

Le Miel du Mois by Steph Lund: Decembre 2011 (Repost)

I am a huge fan of Et Musique Pour Tous. They were the first music blog that I got into and still continue to be my favorite. I am always looking forward to their Le Miel Du Mois posts every month and this one is no exception. I figured it would be a good idea to post something with a few extra tracks on it, since we have been down for the past couple of days. I was in Hungary with my lady for a few and now I am back in the Czech Rep and ready to post. So lets start the last leg of this trip into 2012 on the right foot and listen to some sweet jams posted by the peeps over at EMPT.

I’ve never been a big fan of looking back, sure it’s comforting to reminisce about the good old times…
Hey you know everybody’s talking about the “good old days”
Everybody! The good old days
Well, let’s talk about the good old days…” – Gladys Knight
But in my mind the past does more harm than good. If you think about the past so much you’re going to constantly be ignoring what’s happening to you right now. The past is good for one thing and one thing only – educating yourself, learning from your mistakes and those of others, otherwise it should be avoided like the plauge. Your current situation is a result of your past thinking and thus your future situation will be a result of your thinking right now! However, if you keep thinking the same sh*&tty thoughts because you can’t stop thinking about the past you’re going end up with the same result. It will happen over and over and again and you’ll just be wondering why but the past is why…
Life is like a treadmill ni*#@s running in place,
Getting no where fast, a whole year done passed…” – Jay-Z (It’s Like That)
Like I said, the value of the past is education, it’s the only way to break the pattern. Otherwise it already happened and if you really think about it, it doesn’t even exists anymore, it’s literally just in your head. My conductor, the late great Walter J. Turnbull always told us – “you’re only as good as your last show.” That always stuck and it means more to me now than ever. Think about your job, say you’ve put in years of service but if you start screwing up today it’s good bye. If you’re in a relationship, those first months or years we’re wonderful but if you stop showing love, caring to impress, to improve and always keeps things fresh things are bound to go sour…
You’re only as good as your last show” – Walter. J. Turnbull
So what does all of this have to do with LMDM? Well, if you’ve been following LMDM these years you’ll know that this ruthless forward thinking mentality is at the very nature of Steph’s mix tape series and listening to this special version inspired all these thoughts. For those unfamiliar with the series this is a great way to get to know it, here’s why
Instead of a “best of” 2011 artist and songs mix,  our end of the year mix is a compilation of the best of LMDM’s of 2011. I tried to chose one track from each month, of the past 11 LMDMs but that was tough and turned into two select tracks per month, because lets face it, 22 tracks is better than 11 and I wanted this holiday tape to be a BIG one. Every LMDM I listen back on reminds me of what I did that month and the little moments that made the month, and piled on, that made the year. …Here’s to Hec and EMPT moving to LA and to a bigger better faster stronger 2012.
That said, here’s to the future, enjoy.

Pink Is Punk Ft. Jack Jaselli - Kings Of Destiny (The S Remix)

As I sit here praying for snow my first thought is how jacked up I'll be when this song is blasting into my eardrums and I'm cruising 75mph on a piece of wood down a mountain staring at this view. I hope you can share my sentiment.

GOTYE-SOMEBODY THAT I USED TO KNOW (BOMBS AWAY REMIX)

I love this track, Shows how dubstep tracks can be slowed down and not so crazy. This guy has an amazing voice.

Azealia Banks - 212 ft. Lazy Jay

Ok, so after watching this video, I'm officially crushing on Azealia Banks. Shes got a tight flow, mickey mouse t, and a dutty mouth. Azealia is a 20 year old singer from Harlem, NY. She's been preforming in off-Broadway musicals since she was 10 and also attended the same high school as one of my other crushes, Nicki Minaj. She jumped into the music scene with first single 'Seventeen', which was produced by Diplo back in 09. Since then she has been blowing up. I think we'll be hearing more from this young lady in 2012.

LBCK – Real Caviar (Instrumental) + Viceroy - Sunny Daze

Wow so apparently I have been missing out on a ton of fresh funk. Today's mission is to remedy that. Here is a fresh track from Long  Breach City Kids titled 'Real Caviar". I chose to put up the instrumental on this one because I don't think the Rhymes of Chuuuwe are that fresh. Hopefully, you agree. I also added a little bonus video. Dig in!

LBCK – Real Caviar (Instrumental)

James Blake – The Wilhelm Scream (Poindexter Remix)

Poindexter is coming through hard with this fink infused remix of James Blake's track "The Wilhelm Scream". Don't let the name Pointdexter fool you, this  dude is pumping out more than binary. Pointdexter comes through with that futuristic 1980s flow that I've been missing so much. The last track I could compare to this jam was Breakbot's track 'Baby I'm Yours'.. This track will be going into heavy rotation on my playlist. Don't miss this track!

James Blake – The Wilhelm Scream (Poindexter Remix)

The French Express - Volume 2

The French Express just released their latest sample of their artists in Volume 2. All in all a pretty solid line up, but I got to give a shout out to StewRat. His remix of Dose's track 'Heart of fools gold' and his own track 'The key' are nice little chill out tracks for the gloomy weather we've got over here in Prague.

The Hood Internet - Don't Play No Trash (Beastie Boys x Santigold x Weird Tapes)

I haven't checked out The Hood Internet in a while. Fortunately, this meant that I had a stack of fresh tracks waiting for me when I came back. I first heard these guys back in 07' with their infamous album 'The Hood Internet VS Chicago'. After that it's been a love affair. This track showcases the strengths of the group by doing what they do best, making fresh beats.

Kavinksy – Nightcall (Breakbot remix)

My girl showed me this track the other day and I couldn't resist posting it. Breakbot is back and funkier than ever. He took Kavinsky's dark electro track 'nightcall' (from the movie Drive) and turned it into some studio 54 ish that even the Ryan Gosling would approve of.

Mark Ronson - Record Collection (Perseus Remix)

Mark Ronson and his band The Business INTL came out with the album 'Record Collection' back in 2010. The result was a huge amount of sweet remixes. Out of the masses, the Perseus remix tops my list.   This track was a perfect find. Yesterday, I had just come home from a the Forum 2000 with the Dalai Lama here in Prague and I was looking for some nice grooves to go with my mood. Then I stumbled upon this little gem. It has been a long time since I found a jam that I dig this much. I guess the Dalai Lama was right, it's all about......... patience!

ZEDS DEAD

I recently went to a Zeds Dead show and they killed it. These two dudes out of toronto are all over the dubstep scene. They put on an awesome show and the crowd went nuts, girls gettin crazy all over the stage, and there new track thats in this youtube video was dirty, Here are two tracks to enjoy ones a lil bit slower but still on point, If you get a chance to see ZD get on it.

Blue Foundation – Eyes On Fire (Zeds Dead Remix VIP)

Zeds Dead – Coffee Break

heres the first track from that video
Zeds Dead - Ruckus The Jam

Glitch Mob - Black Aura feat. Theophilus London

I had the opportunity to check these guys out a few weeks back when they came to Prague.... and let me tell you, they killed it! I wasn't sure how they would measure up to my expectations. I have been following these guys before they were GM and were still solo artists. So I was curious to see how these guys would stack up in front of a live audience. Also, I wasn't sure how well known they were over here in the Czech Republic, but to my surprise they was no shortage of fans or free standing space. They packed the house and for good reason.  They were out promoting their first full length album 'Drink the Sea' and they did a damn good job of it. Here is a little taste of what they've been working on lately.

Diamond Rings – Mellow Doubt (Teenage Fanclub Cover)

I found this track a few days ago and it finally caught my attention yesterday when it popped on during a midday tram ride. I was digging it so much that I decided to find some more tracks by Diamond Rings...... that's where I went wrong. While I have to say I do dig this jam, his other solo tracks are a bit ridiculous: point and case====>(Diamond Rings Music Vid). It's like Richard Simmons meets Britney Spears meets Empire of the Sun meets the Star Wars light saber kid . I know what your thinking, that sure is a lot of meetings. Well let me assure you, his video reaches a magnitude of lame worthy of such high profile clientele.

Land of the Loops - Multi-Family Garage Sale

What a nice unexpected surprise find for the day! So I decided to take a little stroll away from my typical blog roll today. It's been a while since I've found anything that's really got my feet tapping. And whatdya know, the road less traveled paid off. This time in the form of the Land of the Loops. Apparently Land of the Loops is no newb to the game. He has been in the biz since the early 90s. I guess some things do get better with age. So on that note, sit back and enjoy some well fermented jams from Land of the Loops.

"Multi-Family Garage Sale," by Land of the Loops.

The Xx – Night Time (MegaMan & Panic City Remix)

The XX is an indie pop has been been around since 2005. They first caught my attention in 2009 with their track 'Crystallized'. MegaMan and Panic city add to The XX's track beautifully with their pads and percussion. They  kept the trademark staples of the the XX intact (Bria Qureshi's vocals and the melodic guitar rifts). They are currently working on their second album which is scheduled to release in 2012. Something I am definitely looking forward to.

Cold War Kids - I've seen enough

I never have been too big a fan of Cold War Kids, but my roommate has been giving me an earful of them lately and I am finally starting to come around. This song seems to be about how nothing seems to change, just the same world problems repeated and the lack of care to try and fight it anymore. It is fitting to me at the moment with all of the problems that are going around the world. From OWS to the Arab Spring, economic crisis, etc, etc etc... None of these problems are new and none of them seem that they will ever be completely solved.... Quite a depressing prospect. My solution is to just say fuck it and rock out to the beat of your own drum..... or to the Cold War Kid's.

Cold War Kids – I’ve Seen Enough

Foster the People

Foster the people have been blowing up the blog-o-sphere in the past year. Rising to notoriety with their track "pumped up kicks", FTP now has released a cover to The Stroke's 'Macchu Picchu'  as well as their own track 'Call it what you want', which was remixed by the legendary DJ duo Treasure Fingers. These tracks def have the potential to become a part bangers, especially the TF remix. So pop this in tonight while you're  getting ready to go out and get ready to get down! Sorry about the unavailability of the download. I will work on it!

PWNDTIAC - Horsepower EP

My Photos by

As I was doing my morning music scan I came across PWNDTIAC. They formed in '09 in Leipzig, Germany. Only a stones throw from me in Prague. I actually saw Earth Wind and Fire play in Leipzig back in '08. It's definitely a fun uni city with an up n coming music scene and  PWNDTIAC are a perfect reflection of it. Their 80s fulled synth beats pull at my heart strings in perfect rhythm and to top it off they made one hell of a promotional trailer for their new EP, Horsepower. Check it out below and enjoy some tracks!

PWNDTIAC – Horsepower

PWNDTIAC – Orange Juice

Walter Sobcek – Miami (Pharao Black Magic Remix)

This is one of those tracks that I pop in during a tired weekend morning tram ride to my second cup of coffee/school. It gives my brain some time to relax and take in the sights, sounds and smells of the city. As winter quickly approaches, I need more tunes like to this to remind me of summer.

Royksopp - Eple (3io cover)

3io home

This track is a great jazz remix of the Royksopp's track Eple. 3io really adds a nice funky rendition to this track while really keeping the tracks original integrity. My favorite part of the track is around 1:45 when Maggioni starts his piano solo..... I'm a sucker for jazz piano. 3io just released their third album: Back to New Roots this year with remixes of tracks from the Chemical Brothers, DJ Shadow, Nightmares on Wax, Fat Boy Slim and a few more. If you're interested in some high quality modern jazz, I highly recommend giving them a look. Here is a link to their full album: 3iO - Back To New Roots (Serotonin Fuelled Jazz Covers)

PM Dawn - Set adrift on memory bliss

I have been trying to this of this track for almost a week now. My flatmate and I were cruising through some throwback tracks and I really wanted to find this track, but for some reason I couldn't remember Spandua ballad. Maybe I haven't watch the Wedding Singer enough....Either way I finally found it on my Monday music search and it's definitely setting my week off right. So sit back , relax and indulge in PM Dawn's magnum opus.

Small Black has just released his new album titled: "Moon Killer" with some great samples from a bunch of great artists (the Carpenters and Pere Ubu to name a few) and most importantly for me Heems of Das Racist. I especially like the tracks "Sunday Son" ft Heems and "New Chain". This album is a mix of heavy synth, ambient rhythms and all around goodness. So dive in and take a sample, or two!

Bag Raiders have been blowing up my Ipod since 2007 when my buddy (DJ Yosbones) woke me up with the song "fun punch rmx". After that I was hooked. Bag Raiders are from New South Wales, Australia consisting of DJs Chris Stracey and Jack Glass. The duo is well known for their remixes and live shows. The group released their latest single in October 2011 titled "Not over". Here's a little new new and an oldie but goodie.

Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs - Dream on

TEED has been coming out with some seriously good beats this past year. I came across his stuff initially on musicninja.com and I was hooked. My personal favorite is "Garden" of his last album. He recently released a new album Nov. 8th titles "Household Goods". I included a little taste from the first and most recent album. Požívat!

CSS - Red Alert ft. Ratatat

CSS just played a show over here in Prague. Unfortunately, it was a little to rich for my blood since Ratatat wasn't there. CSS just released there third album "La Liberacion", which is following their underwhelming second album in 2008. I just downloaded the album and so far so good. I think CSS is headed in the right direction. Red alert is by far the single from the album, but there is also some hidden gems in the album like "partners in crime". I suppose it would be best to check it our for yourselves, Enjoy!
